This up-and-coming group reflects the diversity of its place of origin. The San Jose collective features a wide range of cultures and musical stylings that have cohered into a modern vision of classic rock, jazz and soul. During a recent Sharks playoff game, their dread-headed lead singer, Noah Kibreab, sang the national anthem to the turquoise-clad faithful. They're working on a debut album now. The LP's lead single, "Love Ain’t Gonna Take It," features Kibreab warbling about a strained romance as he plucks a few tender licks on his guitar, then bursts into a full-throated refrain. (JF)
