Description
Strange and unexplainable experiences in his childhood push George Gurdjieff on a quest to find the meaning and significance of human life. His search leads him to many remarkable people, and finally, to the ancient Sarmoung Brotherhood.Meetings With Remarkable Men features spectacular photography and a highly evocative musical score, incorporating various indigenous musics. The film, directed by Peter Brook, was made on location in the rarely photographed, forbidding mountains and deserts of Afghanistan and has been widely acclaimed for its unique visual beauty.
Notable in this film, are several performances of Gurdjieff's "movements," a kind of dance or gymnastic designed to produce a higher state of consciousness for the dancer. They are also said to express--for those who can read it--very precise knowledge about man and the universe.
As there are many powerful concepts in this film, it just may attract a group of somewhat remarkable people in itself; expect an interesting conversation or group discussion afterward.
