Meals On Wheels of San Francisco Celebrates their 25th Anniversary Star Chefs & Vintners Gala

James Beard Award-winner Nancy Oakes (Boulevard | Prospect) returns for her ninth year as Gala Chair to lead an illustrious line-up of Northern California chefs as Meals On Wheels of San Francisco (MOWSF) announces the 25th Anniversary of its Star Chefs & Vintners Gala. The Star Chefs & Vintners Gala is MOWSF’s main source of contributions for the year, which enables the organization to serve one of the city’s most vulnerable populations – homebound seniors.

Oakes, along with more than 70 notable executive chefs from several of Northern California’s top restaurants, will come together to create the ultimate celebration of food, wine and cocktails. The evening begins with an hors d’oeuvre and wine reception, featuring creations from more than 30 chefs and wineries, followed by a three-course, sit-down meal, with each course planned by one of 27 different chefs. Each section is assigned to a diverse team of chefs who orchestrate the unique menus for their tables.

During both live and silent auctions, guests will have the opportunity to bid on extraordinary lot items including exotic vacations and private dinners with celebrity chefs. The evening’s exciting climax is “Fund-A-Route,” in which guests pledge cash donations towards funding an entire meal delivery route for the next year. Guests at the 2011 Gala raised a record-breaking $360,000 for “Fund-A-Route,” while the event raised a grand total of $1.4 million.

Individual tickets are priced at $450, with patron levels ranging from $1,500 to $20,000.
