MAPS is a non-profit pharmaceutical company that is working with the FDA and international regulatory agencies to develop MDMA into a treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). MAPS study participants, mostly veterans and victims of domestic or sexual abuse, have not found relief with existing drug and therapy treatments.

MAPS HAS FOUND very promising results in its Phase 2 double-blind clinical studies. In the first FDA-approved study, 83% of the subjects receiving MDMA-assisted psychotherapy no longer met the criteria for PTSD. A long-term follow-up study found that these benefits were maintained for an average of 3½ years. Results of the first study can be found in the Journal of Psychopharmacology (July 2010). Results of the long-term follow-up have been submitted for peer review.

SINCE ITS FOUNDING 26 years ago, MAPS has disbursed over $12 million for research and education about the therapeutic potential of psychedelic drugs, and has recently completed or ongoing studies in South Carolina, Colorado, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Canada, and Switzerland.
