Description
The Night Kitchen returns to the depths of Chinatown's Li Po Lounge on Friday, November 14. Bigger and badder, this session hosts none other than Brooklyn's own Matt Shadetek, champion of stateside Grime and half of hip hop production unit Team Shadetek. The duo's lush back catalog includes releases on Warp Records, Sound Ink, and Tigerbeat6, while Matt's own efforts essentially defined the US grime scene with 2006's Heavy Meckle mixtape. Currently he runs the Dutty Artz label alongside DJ /Rupture, and explores the massive sonic territory of dancehall, hip hop, dubstep, and beyond. The fiery fruits of this study will come to life in a dank, dark Chinatown basement, making for an entirely raw musical experience. And if that wasn't enough, SF's own lazer bass misfits Epcot & Salva team up for a no-holds-barred live PA. These two are making big moves with their label/show series Frite Nite, recruiting top talent from California's new hip hop vanguard.
$5 before 11PM / 21+
