The Bartered Bride is a comic opera in three acts by the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana,
to a libretto by Karel Sabina. The opera is considered to have made a major contribution towards the development of Czech music.
It was composed during the period 1863–66, Set in a country village, it tells the story of how true love prevails over the combined efforts
of ambitious parents and a scheming marriage broker. The orchestra will play the overture.

The Double Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra was Brahms' final work for orchestra. It was composed in the summer of 1887.
Brahms approached the project with anxiety over writing for instruments that were not his own.
He wrote it for the cellist Robert Hausmann, a frequent chamber music collaborator, and his old but estranged friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim.
The concerto was, in part, a gesture of reconciliation towards Joachim.

The Symphony No. 9 in E minor, From the New World, Op. 95, popularly known as the New World Symphony,
was composed by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895.
It is by far his most popular symphony, and one of the most popular of all symphonies. Neil Armstrong took a recording of the New World
Symphony to the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission, the first Moon landing, in 1969.
