Description
It's not often that Pitchfork reviews grindcore albums on their website, but Mammoth Grinder's third album, Underworlds, got reviewed, and they even gave it a 7.3, which is good by Pitchfork standards. It's not like Mammoth Grinder have any sort of crossover appeal for non-punk/metal fans-far from it. They go heavy and they go hard and they don't relent. They just do it well. They do manage to pull from all the different heavy niche subgenres: punk, sludge, death metal, black metal. It's all there. Whatever they play, whatever tempo they play it at, it's at full throttle and it's nothing if not intense. (Aaron Carnes)
