Description
On Saturday, January 11 at 8pm, San Jose's Latinx/Chicanx theater company, Teatro Vision, will present the world premiere of Luz: A Shadow Play Inspired by Senior Stories in the Gallery at the Mexican Heritage Plaza.Written by local playwright Cristal Gonzalez Avila, Luz is based on real life stories gathered from San Jose seniors and elders through participatory workshops and one-on-one interviews. From marching with Cesar Chavez, to watching a mother struggle with cancer, to coming out as gay at age 60, these stories capture the beauty, the complexity, and the wisdom of the elders in our community. These stories will be brought to life by actors Hector Ruela Sanchez and Stephanie Ceja, along with unique projections and shadow puppets.
Luz is made possible by an X Factor grant from SV Creates.
