Description

The Hillsborough Auxiliary to Peninsula Family Service will host its annual Gala beginning at 6 p.m. on February 4, 2012 at the Pavilion by the Bay on Treasure Island. In keeping with its stunning setting, the theme for the evening will be “The Love Boat.” Co-chaired by Lori Bard, Carmen Ericson and Stephanie Kruse, the evening will feature cocktails at 6 p.m. and a sumptuous dinner by Wine Valley Catering at 7 p.m. A live auction and a raffle for a $2,500 gift certificate to Steiner’s Jewelry are also on deck. Attendees will then be serenaded by the sounds of Double Funk Crunch as they dance the night away for a good cause. The Gala will feature a “Fund A Need” opportunity to raise money for a disabilities clinician in the child development and education programs at Peninsula Family Service. Tickets begin at $275 and can be purchased by contacting Elizabeth Pratt at epratt@pacbell.net. Advance reservations are required.

“We wanted to do something really fun and timely this year,” explained Lori Bard. “With America’s Cup coming up in 2013, we thought it would be fun to get a head start on the nautical theme. We’re focusing on having a great time and raising money to give children in need on the Peninsula the early education and attention they need to be competitive with all children once they start school, regardless of income.”

The live auction will offer exciting themed packages such as Romance, featuring a fully planned monthly date, with activities including a hot air balloon ride and champagne brunch in Napa Valley; an overnight getaway to Cavallo Point Lodge; and tickets to San Francisco Ballet’s performance of Romeo and Juliet followed by dinner at Jardiniere. Other themed packages include Sports, Mystery, Tuscany, Opa!, and The “Con” International Film Festival. After dinner, the festivities will continue with dancing and a live band, Double Funk Crunch, a Bay Area favorite for the last 14 years. Sponsors include Kerns Fine Jewelry, Borel Private Bank & Trust Company as well as Carr, McClellan, Ingersoll, Thompson & Horn, A Professional Law Corporation.
