Local favorite cabaret chanteuse Darlene Popovic returns to Society Cabaret at the Hotel Rex in San Francisco on Aug. 15 & 16, 2014 (Fri. & Sat. 8:00 pm) with her new show LOVE AND LAUGHTER. Darlene will sing songs about love, laughter and everything in between. While Popovic is known for her character work in musicals, a critic commented, "the lady can sing too." LOVE AND LAUGHTER will be an evening of songs by composers including Jerome Kern, Rodgers & Hart, Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen to name drop just a few.
Another critic commented, "Popovic transitions easily between comedy and ballads." Her new show includes songs that tell stories about the thrill of a new love, the heartbreak of a lost love and the wackiness of the crazy side of relationships. Popovic will perform songs from such Broadway classics as “The Boys From Syracuse”, “Evita”, “Isn't It Romantic” and songs made famous by such classic crooners as Edie Gorme, Dinah Shore and Peggy Lee. LOVE AND LAUGHTER will tickle your funny bone and make you glad songs like this were written and performed by the inimitable Darlene Popovic.
