Description

Tikkun Ha-olam (repair of the world) is one of the key commitments and practices of Judaism. In this retreat we consider Jewish (and maybe some Buddhist!) teachings on love and compassion and how we can work with them to open up our lives. Practice sitting and walking meditation, engage in contemplative prayer, and listen to talks by Makor Or teacher Norman Fischer.

This retreat includes a ticket for a book talk by Norman Fischer.

About the Instructors:

Norman Fischer is the spiritual leader of Makor Or, a Zen master, founder of Everyday Zen and a poet. His books include Jerusalem Moonlight, Taking Our Places, Sailing Home, and Question/Places /Voices/Seasons.

Rabbi Dorothy A. Richman serves as rabbi of Makor Or. She is a Master Educator leading Kevah Torah study groups, and teaches widely in the Bay Area. She has served as Rabbi at Berkeley Hillel, Sha’ar Zahav, and Congregation Beth Sholom with her mentor Rabbi Alan Lew (z”l).
