Southern Exposure, youth from the Columbia Park Boys & Girls Club, and Loco Bloco collaborate to create a visual presentation at Carnaval San Francisco in May 2007.

Youth participants from Columbia Park will create visuals that are representative of the diversity and eclectic character of the Mission District for inclusion in the procession at Carnaval. Lead artist Joshua Short and assistant Robin Frohardt teach four months of workshops to familiarize participants to the Mardi Gras Indians, Caribbean African Diaspora traditions, and the unifying quality of Carnaval in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as concepts of kinetic and flexible art through making parade visuals such as puppets, costume and float elements, flag design, streamer throwers, water cannons, and inflatable sculptures.
