Literary Death Match returns to the Elbo Room for an electric showcase of some of the City by the Bay's most brilliant talent that'll have you racing fellow readers to the bookstore. (Ideally, an independent one.) Plus, we won't be back for ages, so come one, come all and make your May 11 perfect.For starters, the judges we've lured off the charts, as we'll feature New Yorker 20-Under-40ist Daniel Alarcón (author of Lost City Radio and War by Candlelight), book editor/translator Rakesh Satyal (author of the Lambda Award-winning novel Blue Boy), and hatmaker extraordinaire Olivia Griffin (of Paul's Hat Works fame)!
They'll pass judgment on a fantastic foursome, led by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Mark Fiore, NEA grant recipient Michael David Lukas (author of The Oracle of Stamboul), and the electric, just-off-the-boat poet Sarah Marie Griffin (winner of LDM Dublin, Ep. 5), and one more to be announced shortly, and poetic homerun hitter Mg Roberts (a 2012 Kundiman fellow)!
