The Center for the Art of Translation presents Sergio ChejfecInternationally acclaimed author discusses Argentina's Dirty War in San Francisco
WHAT: Internationally recognized author Sergio Chejfec discusses his new novel, The Planets, about the Dirty War during Argentina's bloody junta. This taut meditation on friendship, memory, and murder follows Chejfec's novel My Two Worlds, of which ZYZZYVA raved, "My Two Worlds leaps into your hands like a living artifact, a refugee." This event is FREE.
WHO: Sergio Chejfec is a widely acclaimed Argentine author of 12 books. Argentine newspaper La Nacion called his novels "one of the most original efforts that our literature has seen in some time." Words Without Borders proclaimed him "among the most promising and distinguished of contemporary Argentine authors." Translated into four languages, he is a Guggenheim fellow and teaches creative writing at New York University.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 8, 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
WHERE: The event takes place at 111 Minna Gallery in downtown San Francisco at 111 Minna Street, just two blocks from the Montgomery BART station. The event is FREE. Beverages and sandwiches will be available for sale at the venue.
