Description
In her fifth exhibition at Haines Gallery, Linda Connor presents Himalayas, images focusing primarily on Ladakh, in the high altitude region of northern India. For the first time, Connor's photographs will be exhibited in a larger format, revealing the intensity and complexity of this remote landscape. Her inclusion of symbols from the Buddhist culture deepens the spiritual resonance in these images.Linda Connor is known for her luminous, iconic photographs and her fascination with sacred sites and landscapes. Her work has been traditionally contact-printed on printing-out paper from 8 x 10-inch negatives produced with a large-format camera. In this exhibition, however, Connor's work takes a dramatic new form: archival pigment prints produced up to 40 x 50 inches. With these large-scale images, Connor is able to convey the visceral physicality of the Himalayan landscape. This change in scale allows for a provocative reassessment of Connor's content and intention.
