About

I started life as a preschool teacher, then did a Masters degrees in Literature. Pioneering a multiracial communications unit during apartheid in South Africa led me to study psychology when I arrived in the United States 25 years ago. Now I have a private psychotherapy practice in Walnut Creek and have specialized in food, body image and weight problems for 21 years. Other specializations are child therapy, people in transition, EMDR and hypnotherapy. As well as being a consultant for therapists for practice development and eating disorders, I supervise interns and teach at the university level.



I'm a licensed continuing education provider for Marriage Family Therapists, social workers, and nurses. Three books are in process - a self-help book on food and weight problems, a collection of short stories, and an inspirational book of poems and writings.



I've presented at seven statewide conferences and given training sessions for counseling interns, non-profit agencies, teachers, nurses, ministers, seniors, corporations, parents, and students. Also, I have led workshops and retreats on addictions, emotional eating, parenting skills, child, art and writing therapy, and family communication.
