About: John Burris (BS 67’) has a tremendous record as a plaintiff’s civil rights attorney. Among his most high profile cases were the Oakland Raiders class action and Rodney King civil suit against the City of Los Angeles. His primary areas of focus for his practice include cases involving police misconduct, employment discrimination and criminal defense. He is the author of Blue vs. Black: Let’s End the Conflict between Police and Minorities.

Burris has represented Barry Bonds, Tupac Shakur, Delrov Lindo, Dwayne Wiggins, Keyshawn Johnson, Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Latrell Sprewell, sports agent Aaron Goodwin former Chief of Police of San Francisco Earl Sanders, and numerous public officials.

Burris was listed among the top 100 trial lawyers in California in 2007 by the American Trial Lawyers Association. In 2005 Burris was named one of the top 100 Most Influential Attorneys in the State of California by the Daily Journal and he has been featured on the cover of California Lawyer magazine. He has also served as legal analyst on Fox, MSNBC, Court TV, CNN and many local television and radio stations.
