Learn How to Rock Climb with Cliff

Never tried climbing before? Curious? Perhaps you’ve climbed a few times in a gym and want to try the real thing? Discover what outdoor rock climbing is all about in this 4-hour clinic designed for the beginning rock climber. No climbing experience is necessary. In this beginner class, getting you up your first few rock climbs is the goal. Additionally, we’ll share the sense of adventure that drives our guides’ passion for the sport, and provide you with the most enjoyable first day of climbing possible. We’ll begin with a short introduction to climbing gear and safety that includes teaching basic commands and climber tie-in knots. Then we’ll spend the remainder of our time climbing!

This is a great opportunity to get exposure to outdoor climbing in a safe, supportive, fun and nurturing environment. We’ll take care of setting up the ropes and providing a safe, supportive environment for the beginning rock climber. You get to explore what it’s all about!

PLEASE NOTE -

All your gear is included – climbing harness, climbing shoes, and all the necessary gear to rig a top rope (carabiners, ropes, webbing, cord, belay devices, etc).

What to Pack: Flexible and comfortable clothing appropriate for the outdoors, stable footwear for a small amount of hiking. Lunch/Snack, water, and daypack to carry your personal items to the climbing area. Exact packing list, directions, exact maps, recommended packing lists, and other details will all be provided during the registration process.

Location: Castle Rock is on Skyline Blvd, approximately 2.5 miles south of the Skyline Blvd, Hwy 9 intersection. Coming from the intersection driving south, the park will on your right – it is a small dirt parking lot with Ranger Kiosk and large wooden sign that says “Castle Rock State Park.”

CANCELLATION POLICY
This experience's cancelation policy is different from Verlocal's default policy due to me having to acquire a permit from the park in advance. As such, guests must cancel 7 days prior to the date of the experience, whether to cancel attendance completely or to move dates. By purchasing, you will be agreeing to this policy. Thank you!

About Cliff
Cliff holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) where he was a Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu national collegiate scholar. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and outdoor guide, traveling the world to climb mountains, surf big waves, study with indigenous tribes, and lead groups of clients ranging from school groups to corporate executives to tap in to their true potential through wilderness adventures. He also sits on the board for several nonprofit organizations and is the owner of CrossFit West – the largest CrossFit facility in the western United States. At the heart of his management style and mission statement is the desire to cultivate environmental stewardship. He has also been featured in international publications and on MTV.
