Description
Thousands of people will flock to Ocean Beach for Leap’s annual Sandcastle Contest on Saturday, October 20, 2012. This event is one of the largest, most successful and fun annual charity events in the San Francisco Bay Area. Architects, engineers, contractors, corporations and Bay Area elementary school students will team up to build the biggest and best sand sculptures they can imagine. Battling the clock and tide, these teams will have just four hours to create impressive and artistic creations based on this year’s theme,"2012 Leap Year: Things that Jump!"
The event is a fundraiser to benefit Leap, a local non-profit organization. Leap provides quality arts education programs that help students build skills to reach their fullest potential.
Leap’s Sandcastle Contest is free to the community and is fun for kids of all ages! Please come by to cheer on your favorite team, try a hand at building a giant sandcastle in our drop-in “Community Castle” area, create art projects, and enjoy our live music and performances by Leap Artists.
With the proceeds from team fundraising, Leap annually serves over 8,000 children in Bay Area schools -- thank you! For more information or to pledge your support, call 415.512.1899 or visit http://www.leaparts.org
