Description
Jacob Zimmerman’s new ensemble performs original music inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Lawsonite people. Through composition and guided improvisation, an exceptional cast of local musicians navigates a unique pitch network system to reveal varying textures of complex, slowly shifting counterpoint.Jacob Zimmerman, Drew Cecatto, Matt Nelson, Cory Wright (saxophones); Rob Ewing (trombone); Michael Coleman, Dan VanHassel (keyboards); Dan Good (electronics and trumpet).
For openers, composer-improviser Aram Shelton (recently featured in DownBeat) engages in musical dialog with classical/avant-garde percussionist Kjell Nordeson of AALY Trio, one of the leading groups in the Swedish experimental scene in the ’90s.
