Lavay Smith, best known as the sultry vocalist and bandleader of the acclaimed Red Hot Skillet Lickers, rings in the first weekend of 2017 by bringing an all-star piano/bass/trombone trio to the Poppy for a night of songs made famous by jazz icon Billie Holiday.Featuring:

Lavay Smith’s vintage style and sultry vocals–influenced by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Bessie Smith, Little Esther Phillips, and other queens of classic jazz–have made her a fixture on the Bay Area music scene for three decades. She is the owner of Fat Note Records and maintains a busy schedule with her seven-piece band, performing original compositions, as well as a large repertoire of classic tunes throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan.
