Description
Through the use of traditional intaglio processes Kumi Korf creates images on copper plates and then prints the plates on a transluscent paper known as Akatosashi.Using this method, Ms. Korf creates 'squares' of unrelated abstractions. These abstractions are linked together to form panels of shapes and colors.
Unlike the repetitive images of the Pop generation, Korf's multiple images stand alone as separate pieces of her thought process; each a contemplative element in a matrix of veiled memories.
She seeks a balance between the Eastern culture she was born into and the Western world, especially 20th century Modernism, which she has adopted as her own.
