Fine and Tribal Rugs
Carla Petievich started this small retail carpet business with carpets she individually selects and buys while on trips to Pakistan. All profits are donated to support the work of the Hoshyar Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded to empower women through access to education in Pakistan and the South Asia region. Traditionally, most tribal weavers from this part of the world have been women, and their artistry is part of the South and Central Asia's rich cultural heritage. Kilimania is a separate entity from Hoshyar, but its profits are donated to the Foundation.
By buying and selling tribal weavings, Kilimania is able to recycle financial resources back into weaving communities, most of which lack girls' schools.
