Throughout nearly six decades in the business, Louisiana-born tenor-man Edward “Kidd” Jordan has contributed to the R&B of Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin to the bebop of Cannonball Adderley and the edgy avant-garde of Archie Shepp. Jordan’s magic touch has influenced an entire gamut of genre-defining breakthroughs. Equally in his element with the soprano and alto saxophones as well as bass clarinet, Jordan has even been honored with France’s highest artistic award for his visionary performances and contributions to jazz education. This “thinking man’s” quartet, featuring bassist William Parker, Sun Ra alumnus Eddie Gale (trumpet), and drummer Warren Smith colors outside the lines with ceaseless attention to each and every emotive detail.
