Kathy Mata Ballet Autumn Showcase

Kathy Mata Ballet is proud to announce its upcoming performance, Friday,
September 21, 2012 at 8pm, on the main stage of the stunning San Francisco
Conservatory of Music!
This lively performance will consist of a variety of
dance styles, including classical and contemporary ballet as well as modern, jazz,
and belly dance. The program will feature newly choreographed works along
with some beautiful tried-and-true classics.

Kathy Mata Ballet will be joined by special guest, the Gnosis Dance Collective, who will perform their enthralling
and thought-provoking piece, “The Green Chair.” In the acoustically perfect San
Francisco Conservatory concert hall, the program will feature live music by
pianist Lucy Hudson, flautist Khalilah Alston, violinist Keegan Dwyer, bassist
Colin Williams, vocalist Robin Yukiko, and musical group The Verms.

Like all of Kathy Mata Ballet’s performances, admission is complimentary, though donations
are encouraged. This is a performance not to be missed!


About Kathy Mata Ballet:
Founded in 1988, Kathy Mata Ballet is one of the few dance companies in the
country to provide talented adult dancers from non-dance professions with the
opportunity to train and perform. The company dancers, all of whom rehearse
at least four times a week on top of their professional working day, come from a
variety of careers including accounting, engineering, law, and scientific research.
Unlike most dance companies, all Kathy Mata Ballet performances benefit community
charities or are offered free of charge.

Bringing dance to deserving community audiences is one of the group’s main goals.

The company regularly performs at places like the Sequoias Senior Living Center and the Castro Senior
Center, among others. We also have been involved for several years in performing
in the Spring Dance Inspiration show at the Cowell Theater, which has raised
tens of thousands of dollars for brain tumor research and treatment.
In addition, we offer regular studio performances and donate the proceeds to the Alonzo
King LINES Dance Center, our rehearsal home. This emphasis on community
service is one of the greatest joys of the company.
