Description

Jonathan Safran Foer is best known for his 2002 debut novel, Everything is Illuminated. Written in ten restless weeks in Prague when Foer was only 25, Everything is Illuminated tells the humorous and heartbreaking story of a young American who travels to the Ukraine in search of the woman who saved his grandfather from death during the Holocaust. In 2005, the novel was adapted into a feature film written and directed by Liev Schreiber and starring Elijah Wood. Foer’s second book, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, published in 2005, established him as one of the important writers of his generation. Foer studied creative writing at Princeton University with Joyce Carol Oates, whom he calls his mentor. In his new non-fiction book Eating Animals, Foer writes about his vegetarianism and grapples with how to feed his baby. Part straightforward investigative journalism, part personal narrative, Eating Animals argues for humane agricultural methods and examines the cultural meaning of food.

Vendela Vida is the author of the critically acclaimed novels And Now You Can Go and Let The Northern Lights Erase Your Name, as well as Girls on the Verge, a journalistic account of female initiation rituals.
