Description

Join me on the Bridge is an international event organized through Women for Women International (WfWI) which celebrates the strength of women (past, present, and future) working for equality, justice and peace.

This International Women's Day, local women, men, families and students from around the city will be walking over the Golden Gate Bridge to show their support and to raise money for female survivors of war. Participation is free, but donations to WfWI are encouraged.

All proceeds from the event will go to support WfWI and initiatives like its “sponsor sisters” program, which pairs US-based sponsors with “sisters” in countries like Afghanistan and Rwanda participating in WfWI’s year-long job skills and women’s rights training courses.

Local Bay Area Kate Spade stores will be donating items for raffle give-away and each participant will receive one free raffle ticket. Additionally, recycled paper necklaces handmade by Rwandan women participating in the WfWI program will be available for $20 each.

The event will begin at Crissy Field, Warming Hut/West Bluff Picnic Area, San Francisco Presidio, followed by a walk to the Golden Gate Bridge.
