Get ready for an incredible evening of thought-provoking words and music as John Trudell arrives for a rare live appearance in the Monterey Bay.
The acclaimed poet, recording artist, actor and activist will perform a very special concert with his band Bad Dog at the Springfield Community Grange in Pájaro on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 7pm.
“I’m just a human being trying to make it in a world that is very rapidly losing its understanding to be human,” says John Trudell.
Trudell was a spokesperson for the Indian of All Tribes occupation of Alcatraz Island from 1969 to 1971. He then worked with the American Indian Movement (AIM), throughout the Seventies. In 1982, Trudell began recording his poetry to traditional Native music. He has also appeared in a number of films, including "Smoke Signals" and "Thunderheart."
“The first time I heard John Trudell, I was on the edge of my seat wanting to hear more. His poetry reflects universal truths in the best traditions of a spiritual
visionary," says Springfield Grange president Alan Hicks. "We're honored to have the opportunity to present him at the Grange as our first live concert.”
Trudell’s performances are a unique blend of poetry, Native music, blues and rock. His powerful new CD “Crazier Than Hell,” touches on love and life, as well as personal & global responsibility.
The Springfield Grange, located at the corner of Werner and Elkhorn Roads in the Pájaro Valley, is a historic events hall that has recently been revitalized. It's also a community organization whose goals are to offer a multicultural gathering space and to support sustainable agriculture, education and community building.
