Art works by Joel Hoyer and Anna Efanova
Joel Hoyer uses traditional gilding techniques with a contemporary interpretation. His works mediate between nature and geometry to reflect the mystery of abstracted forms. This body of works continues his fascination with Pacific Island culture and geography, incorporating Fijian Masi bark papers with gold, gesso, and linen.
Anna Efanova composes with color and texture, and brings together different types of materials so that all types of textures coexist and become inseparable. Within the composition, foreground and background play hide and seek, imitative mimics real, all owing to the a sense of play and a painter’s technical skill.
