Jane Fisher: Hotel Redux

Our Side Gallery features Jane Fisher’s “Hotel Redux” bringing to light a selection of paintings that have rarely been seen.

We discovered Jane Fisher’s Hotel series last year while selecting pieces for her solo, survey exhibition. Most of these 2001-2002 drawings and paintings haven’t been shown, and surely not as a group. Her subjects reveal Fisher’s consistency in deftly painting figures. They are depicted here in a variety of Hotel settings that personify intrigue and offer a seductive, psychological allure. Her mastery of storytelling alludes to great movie directing and engages the viewer in a visual journey of discovery and exploration.

Jane Fisher received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Ohio University and her Masters in Fine Arts from The Art Institute of Chicago. She has lived in the Bay Area for over fifteen years, paints in a studio behind her home, and teaches at a variety of local colleges.
