Description
Jack DeJohnette the iconoclastic drummer, pianist and composer continues to be a major creative force on top of an already illustrious career stretching back over five decades. A pioneer in the jazz/fusion movement of the late '60s in bands with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis, DeJohnette began leading his own groups, Compost, Directions, and Special Edition in the '70s and '80s. Since the mid '80s, he has been a member of Keith Jarrett's Standards Trio. In 2012, DeJohnette was awarded a NEA Jazz Master Fellowship for his contributions to the advancement of jazz. His trio features the talents of saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and bassist Matt Garrison.
