Description

Israeli-Palestinian peace activist Dr. Gershon Baskin will speak at the University of San Francisco (USF) on Nov. 25 about the anticipated and long awaited peace process between Israel and Palestine. The event will include a lecture on whether there is hope for an upcoming breakthrough in coexistence between the notoriously conflicting states. As a leading authority on Jewish-Arab relations, Dr. Baskin has served as an advisor for the peace process and has been responsible for releasing an abducted Israeli solider, as well as Palestinian prisoners. Dr. Baskin’s talk at USF is his only San Francisco appearance. Dr. Gershon Baskin has served as co-director and founder of the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information, a joint Israeli-Palestinian think tank located in Jerusalem that concentrates on public policy and how to reach peace in the Middle East. He is a leader in Jewish-Arab relations and was responsible for negotiations between Israel and the Hamas in the release of an abducted Israeli soldier, Gilead Schalit. He provides a voice of moderation and is an activist who is pro-Israel, yet anti-occupation.
