Learn the basics of live sound with an industry veteran at a professional music venue (Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse) with a top-notch sound system designed and installed by Meyer Sound Labs of Berkeley.

Women's Audio Mission (WAM) is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that advances women and girls in music production and the recording arts. WAM is the only women-run professional recording studio in the world and a 2012 Best of the Bay winner selected by the San Francisco Bay Guardian. WAM has recorded such notable clients as Kronos Quartet, Salman Rushdie, and The SHE'S.

Introduction to Live Sound for Women

Date/Time: Saturday 9/6 and Sunday 9/7 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM with a half hour lunch break

Spend two days focusing on live sound techniques while working with a live band to learn:

-The components of a professional live sound system
-How to set optimum levels and understand signal flow of a live sound system
-How to conduct a professional sound check
-How to prepare for a show and set up a live band on stage
-How to mix and use EQ and effects (signal processing)
-How to optimize a system to work with a venue's acoustics
