Description

GROW BIOINTENSIVE is a sustainable farming and gardening method that has been used in many countries as a way for people to feed themselves, especially when land and fertilizers are scarce. This class will explain the basic principles of this system: composting, deep soil preparation, intensive planting, companion planting, maximizing biomass production, maximizing calorie production, open-pollinated seeds, and a whole-systems approach. We will also discuss the history and philosophy of GROW BIOINTENSIVE farming as well as how to start sustainably producing food in your own yard!

Taught by Eric Buteyn, who is the Mini-Farm Manager at Ecology Action in Willits CA.
**Class held at the Common Ground Garden, 687 Arastradero Rd.,Palo Alto.
