The show runs from September 7-30, 2010. Featured in this rich gallery exhibition are new media and mixed media installations containing people’s instructions for realizing peace in the twenty-first century. This multi-media exhibit is a parallel program of the 3rd 01SJ Biennial “Build Your Own World” http://www.01sj.org.
Integrating raw material and digital technology, ten commissioned artists (from Arizona, California, Michigan, New York, Texas) use lumber and scraps donated and collected from World Trade Center contractors “blessed” with peace instructions from youth and community members.
Artists also draw inspiration from peace bloggers on the Instructions For Peace website where people create simple instructions describing an achievable peaceful act. The public is also invited to participate in the “Instructions For Peace” blog by logging into instructionsforpeace.org and on Facebook.
