On September 9th, 2010 we are throwing a benefit concert for The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation entitled “Inspiration Move Me Brightly” at the Connecticut Yankee bar in San Francisco, CA from 9:00 pm - 1:00 am. The event will be a showcase concert featuring local musicians (see below) playing a variety of music in an intimate setting. We hope to raise as much money as possible to make a healthy donation to the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation to help keep music education alive in schools.Suggested door cover: $10 - $50 and 100% goes to charity.
Music has an enormous and unrivaled positive impact on the development of children. The deep knowledge that comes from learning and playing a musical instrument teaches spatial intelligence, dedication, focus, patience, practice, creativity, mastery, reasoning, problem solving, compassion, courage, performance and communication. Sadly, blossoming young musicians often do not have access to instruments, either because a school has no supply or because their families cannot afford the cost of a rental or purchase. The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is a need-based foundation that eliminates this problem by supplying children/schools/after-school programs with new or gently used and refurbished high-quality instruments to allow this wonderful learning process to start and to continue.
