Description

Come find out about our new FREE After School Program for 6th-8th grade students!

The Western Addition Beacon Center STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Academy engages youth in STEM learning, an emerging field in the United States. The engagement process is two-fold. First, youth will work in the classroom participating in project-based learning. Examples of classroom projects include contributing to a robotics team, or building an arcade game. Second, our youth will be exposed to real life Bay Area STEM Industries and Universities. During two Saturdays a month, the academy will travel to to various events and locations that promote STEM learning. Graduates of the STEM program will understand what jobs exist in these fields and the path to pursue higher education in these fields.

For more information on the program and registration process, please come to our Informational Session on Wednesday October 16th at the Buchanan YMCA.
