Imagined Spaces, Paintings by Ernest Regua

Opening reception Friday, February 7, 6-8 pm.

Exhibition of paintings by artist Ernest Regua. Regua’s abstract work explores and challenges the formal ideas of contrasting shapes and colors, as well as the optical play in the delineation of shapes that reference architecture, cartography, and biomorphic forms. The interplay of imagined space reveals both tension and humorous intersections.

Ernest Regua is currently on the faculty of CSMA, where he teaches drawing and painting classes for teens and adults, as well as several of CSMA’s Spring/Summer vacation art camps for youth. His work has been shown throughout the country, including Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Sacramento, SFMOMA Artists Gallery, San Francisco; Susan Street Fine Art Gallery, San Diego; and more. Regua also has extensive experience with exterior murals in collaboration with Arts Council Silicon Valley, the City of San Jose, the City of Sunnyvale, and numerous individual schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University, along with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute.
