Description
ICARUS/RISE, a provocative multimedia theatrical performance of new Iranian poetry, is translated, directed and performed by Niloufar Talebi, with an original score by Bobak Salehi, choreography and video by Alex Ketley, and features Chloe Felesina as Icarus. Inspired by the Iranian tradition of naghali (dramatic storytelling), ICARUS/RISE weaves new Iranian poetry with Western dramatic elements, connecting the myth of Icarus with the migration of Iranians and the solitary journey of the artist/immigrant’s quest for freedom. ICARUS/RISE begins after Icarus’s fall from the sky and describes a journey to self-possession. The program features the emerging voices of Iranian poetry—including Ziba Karbassi, Granaz Moussavi, Maryam Huleh, Abbas Saffari, Jamshid Moshkani, Shahrouz Rashid, Mina Assadi, and Yadollah Roya'i.More Info
