Mendocino County winemaker Zac Robinson of Husch Vineyards teams with Roots Chef Jeramiah Wheeless to celebrate California Wine Month with a dinner that will showcase their brand of farm-to-table, vine-to-wine sustainability. The Local Flavors Wine Dinner will take place Wednesday, September 15 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at Roots Restaurant, 466 Bush Street in San Francisco.The dinner was conceived to bring wine and food enthusiasts, local farmers, producers, and grape growers, together in social dialogue over dinner. The feast will be created by a talented chef who is inspired by and wholly supports sustainable practices.
In “America’s Greenest Wine Region,” Mendocino vintners and growers are among the wine industry’s leading advocates for sustainable, organic, Biodynamic® and fish-friendly grape farming and wine making.
Under Zac Robinson’s artful direction, family-owned Husch Winery produces award-winning wines which exemplify the structure, balance, bright flavors and subtle nuances of Mendocino’s Anderson Valley appellation. One of appellation’s pioneer wineries, Husch was the site of the first pinot noir vineyard in the Valley. Robinson will select Husch wines for each course, from lush pinot noir, to exotic gewürztraminer, sharing insight about each varietal, vineyard and vintage, along with his personal experiences creating these exemplary wines.
Alongside the wines will be the inventive American cuisine of Chef Wheeless. When this “local boy” was just 12, he created his now-signature BBQ Pulled Pork recipe. Today, Jeramiah’s wholesome, unpretentious and beautifully prepared Roots menus reflect his passion for rustic cooking using organic, locally grown produce, naturally raised meats and sustainable seafood.
