Description
On the theme of HUMBUGGERY (as in bah humbug). A Victorian family Kwanzaa extravaganza. Monica Nolan, author of favorite stocking-fillers Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary, and the Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories, will read Dickensian coke-sniffing scenes. Sexologist-violinist Paul Festa a) will read about his obsession with Olivier Messiaen and how that relates to his sister's becoming an ultra-orthodox Jew and moving to Israel, and b) accompanied by Gary Lutes, will perform Alfred Schnittke's version of "Silent Night," described by Festa himself as "sort of like the ghost of Christmas dumped with multiple stab wounds in a suburban Soviet parking garage." With guest MC comedienne Julia Jackson, as seen in the November issue of Curve. And James Warner will read his story "Hecklers" so that it can be recorded as a podcast to go on Apostrophe Cast next month. Being our holiday special, this event will be more or less FREE, except that we may pass around a stocking to solicit donations.
