Description

Lit Crawl comes to San Francisco once a year, taking over more than 50 venues in the city for an evening of poetry and prose. Think of it as a literary pub crawl. This year, GuyWriters is getting in on the fun by presenting HomoPoetic: A Night of Gay Poetry.

The event at F.S.C. Barber on Valencia will highlight established poets and emerging talent. Featuring Kevin Killian, Andrew Demcak, Brent Calderwood, Baruch Porras-Hernandez, and James J. Siegel.

Kevin Killian is the author of the collection Action
Kylie and co-editor of My Vocabulary Did This To Me: The Collected Poetry of Jack Spicer.

Andrew Demcak has published four poetry collections: Catching Tigers in Red Weather, Zero Summer, A Single Hurt Color, and Night Chant.

Brent Calderwood is associate editor for Assaracus: A Journal of Gay Poetry. He is a Pushcart Prize nominee and winner of the 2011 AQLF Broadside contest judged by Mark Doty.

Baruch Porras-Hernandez is co-host of the monthly Queer Open Mic. He has organized several arts events, including It Gets Gayer: Baruch’s Big Gay Poetry Show.

James J. Siegel is the director of GuyWriters. His poems have appeared in several journals, and the anthology Divining Divas: 100 Gay Men on Their Muses.

GuyWriters is the only San Francisco organization dedicated to showcasing the literary talent of gay men in the Bay Area.
