Modernbook Gallery is pleased to bring together the work of photographers Holly Roberts and Charles Grogg for an intriguing new exhibition. Eschewing the glossy, untouchable ideal that is normally associated with the medium, both artists create tactile objects that incorporate, yet transcend, their photographic works, investigating the ideas of fragmentation and reconstruction.

Holly Roberts uses mixed-media photo collage to create fantastical dreamscapes, at times both whimsical and dark. Incorporating painted surfaces, Roberts cuts apart and reassembles black and white photographs to generate the figures and objects that inhabit her fanciful creations.
Charles Grogg prints imagery of bonsai and other botanical subjects in platinum palladium on handmade Japanese gampi paper, which gives the images a rich warmth and sumptuous texture. Not content to stop there, the images are divided into nine panels which are printed separately, each piece hand-stitched back together to reconnect the whole.
