Over the last year Dion Olivier and Alix Jiang have coordinated with like minds in San Francisco and beyond to create an interdisciplinary publication featuring 100% original content with a focus on editorial fashion photography and all other parallel cultural digest printed in a biannual format.HOLLOW exists as a question. If the margins ultimately define the
work, the body asks what remains when the traditional and transforming dynamics that inhibit individual articulation are dissolved or distorted for function. The lens is concerned with the expiration and distillation of these themes – what boils to the surface? With a principal focus on identity as idiom, the voice speaks between suggestion and implication, the hyper-real intrinsic to the surreal, the conversation in the deduction of the present. Any evidence of the older ways exists as supplement to all disciplines seeking to combine disparate elements into inventive forms of reflection on contemporary life in the increasingly interconnected world.
Volume 1 will be released this fall including editorial works by Alix Jiang, Dion Olivier, Suzy Poling, Maggie Foster, Katie Miller, Luis Mendoza, and Nikki Mirsaeid, as well as interviews and features with JAWS, , Black Hole Cinema, Kamau Patton, and more.
In order to finance perfect bound printing of our 100+ page publication, we seek to include YOU to make this happen. The launch will take place in San Francisco to reflect the majority of the content produced in this city. However, we will be relocating the publication to New York at the end of August. We would love to see all of you before we go!
