Description

Holistic orcharding involves a wide breadth of knowledge and timeliness, yet one fact stands clear -- we can have beautiful fruit without chemical intervention. Michael's workshops point the way for organic fruit growers to meet their unique site challenges.

Growing flavorful, nutrient-dense fruit requires that we invest in a robust biology rather than react to symptoms. Dealing with disease from a holistic perspective requires an in-depth understanding of nutritional cause-and-effect. Biodiversity brings in untold connections. The challenges you face at your locale will become far more manageable as you build a holistic system that keeps trees and berry plantings healthy from the get-go.

These principals apply to all orchard fruit and nut crops as well as bush and cane fruits. Michael's insights will inspire participants to think about fruit culture in a new way.

Michael is a farmer who lives on Heartsong Farm in northern New Hampshire. Michael’s most recent book is The Holistic Orchard - Tree Fruits and Berries the Biological Way. This expands on his previous book, The Apple Grower: A Guide for the Organic Orchardist. Michael also leads the community orchard movement at http://www.GrowOrganicApples.com
