HYATT REGENCY SAN FRANCISCO WELCOMES BACK THE POPULAR DEPARTMENT 56 SNOW VILLAGE2012’s Theme: “Small Town USA” in the World’s Largest Hotel Atrium*
Ideally located at Embarcadero Center, across from the iconic Ferry Building and steps from the California Street Cable Car line, Hyatt Regency San Francisco will welcome back the iconic Department 56 Snow Village display for the 2012 holiday season.
According to General Manager David Lewin, “We are very excited about re-introducing a custom that was originated by the late Len Connacher.” Lewin continues, “Once the curator of the largest Department 56 collection, it is in Len’s honor that we welcome collector Glen Leveque and Eric Moe of Moe Trains to help us continue entertaining holiday revelers with this popular new tradition.”
Glen’s snow village collection encompasses about 200 pieces. While his collection is vast, the theme for this year’s display will be “Small Town USA” in the Guinness Book of World Records’ “Largest Atrium Lobby.” The Snow Village will be complemented by an active Garden Scale train, designed by Moe Trains.
Additionally, although it never snows in San Francisco, the Hyatt Regency San Francisco is predicting snowfall in its dramatic atrium lobby throughout the holiday season. Complementing thousands of cascading lights and a dramatic 45-foot tree, snow will fall three times a day in the hotel's lobby, from November 16 through December 31, 2012. This relatively new tradition has become one of the city’s most celebrated holiday trademarks and will be a natural complement to the new Snow Village display.
