Description

In the spirit of the holidays, San Francisco movie maven and hat enthusiast Jan Wahl of KCBS AM/FM and KRON-TV will host a three-course Holiday Hat Brunch and Winter Coat Drive at Nick’s Cove Restaurant, Oyster Bar & Cottages on Sunday, December 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their most festive hat and bring a warm coat to donate to The Ritter Center Rafael, Marin's critical safety net for the homeless and working poor, which will also
receive a portion of the brunch proceeds. Attendees who bring a coat to donate will
receive a voucher for 20% off of dinner at Nick’s Cove (valid Sunday through Thursday).

“At Nick’s Cove we’re always looking for ways to give back to the community
throughout the year, especially during the holidays. We’re thrilled to partner with Jan Wahl and The Ritter Center for this unique and very festive event to help those most in need. We hope to make the Holiday Hat Brunch an annual tradition,” said Dena Grunt, general manager of Nick’s Cove.

Beloved in the Bay Area, Wahl is an Emmy award-winning producer, entertainment
reporter, radio personality and film critic known for sporting a different hat every week on KRON 4 News – hence the theme for this special holiday brunch. Guests are
encouraged to wear their merriest hat and prizes will be awarded in several categories including “Craftiest Chapeau” (most creative hat), “Biggest Bonnet” (largest hat) and “Top Topper” (overall best in show). Along with bottomless mimosas and Nick’s Bloody Marys, the three-course brunch menu prepared by Executive Chef Austin Perkins will highlight neighboring farms and area specialties. Tickets for the Holiday Hat Brunch are $55 per person, including food, beverage, tax and gratuity. Please call (415) 663-1033 for reservations. Advance reservations are required as space is limited.

ABOUT THE RITTER CENTER
Ritter Center, based in downtown San Rafael, is a community-based nonprofit
organization that has assisted Marin’s low-income and homeless population for over 30 years. The organization helps the homeless and very low-income residents of Marin – individuals and families – stabilize their lives by offering a number of social services, including case management; primary health care; specialty care coordination; mental health therapy and substance abuse counseling; supplementary food and clothing; emergency financial assistance; showers, laundry and restroom facilities; general delivery mail and voicemail. All of the Center’s programs and services are provided free of charge.

Ritter Center is Marin’s primary access point for the provision of social services.
In addition to the agency’s own programs, Ritter Center maintains a thorough referral network to link clients to other vital services available in the community. Ritter Center serves as a critical safety-net for Marin’s low-income, homeless, and other at-risk populations and helps those in need to become more self-reliant. Ritter Center’s main outcomes are transitioning people into housing, employment, and health, mental health and substance abuse treatment as well as improving people’s day-to-day living conditions.
