Description
The Japanese Doll Festival, or Girls' Day, is a festival celebrated by families who have girls, wishing their daughters good luck and health. Beautiful dolls representing the emperor, empress, attendants, and musicians were handcrafted especially for this occasion, a tradition that began during the Heian period. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to see traditional Hina Matsuri dolls and other, more unique doll exhibits, as well as participate in fun craft projects for both boys and girls. Free with museum admission.
