Makor Or was founded in 2000 by Rabbi Alan Lew (z"l) and Norman Fischer. The Jewish meditation practice of Makor Or incorporates silent sitting and walking meditation, Jewish prayer, and teachings by Norman Fischer and Rabbi Dorothy Richman. All are welcome. No previous experience with meditation, Hebrew or prayer is necessary. Please refrain from wearing scented products to this program.

About the Instructors:
Norman Fischer is the spiritual leader of Makor Or. A Zen master, he is also a poet and the founder of Everyday Zen. His books include Jerusalem Moonlight, Taking Our Places, Sailing Home and Question/Places/Voices/Seasons.

Rabbi Dorothy A. Richman serves as rabbi of Makor Or. She is a master educator, leading Kevah Torah study groups and teaching widely in the Bay Area. She has served as Rabbi at Berkeley Hillel, Sha'ar Zahav and Congregation Beth Sholom with her mentor Rabbi Alan Lew (z"l).
