Description

NOHspace Presents: Helen Keller directed by renowned Japanese director Gogh Nakajima, coming to the U.S. specifically for this production. Japanese actor Ryousuke Kitaoka, traveling from Japan will play Anne Sullivan, and Julie Brown (Theatre of Yugen) will play Helen Keller.

About The Piece

Helen Keller's life story's theme is "to live" without loosing ones light. Theatre of Yugen creates a dark, dim stage through lights to visualize the darkness that surrounds Helen's world. Helen who cannot see, hear, nor speak, teaches us the power of senses not obvious to us. Because she does not have the senses that we use for daily survival, we are opportune to investigate the core, the center of matters. We learn how to see, how to hear, how to form words as part of development that differentiates us from when we were an infant, still experiencing life with blurred sensations.
